Everything is an excuse to learn

Encouraging autonomy and initiative in children is essential in Montessori pedagogy. On the one hand, to facilitate and motivate their learning and on the other hand, to promote their development as a person. It is necessary to respect its sensitive periods but also its rhythms of learning.

Before school lessons (calculation, language, etc.), very young children learn a lot through the activities of daily life. Thus sorting , folding, pouring, sweeping, threading... are not activities to be neglected: they promote the coordination of movements, concentration, organization in the work and allow an activity to be carried out to completion.

Montessori toys are primarily made with simple, natural materials, such as wood, to stimulate hands-on, self-directed learning. This means the toys don't move or make sounds on their own. No flashing lights. No limit is imposed on their imagination.
